St Ives Town v SUFC

On Tuesday 19th February 2013, Spalding United travelled to a foggy, foreboding Westwood Road in Cambridgeshire for a top-of-the-table clash at St Ives Town. In a match where a win was deemed absolutely vital for both sides if they were to keep pace with table-topping Holbeach United, it was the home side who enjoyed the better of the first period and they duly took the lead through a spectacular Karl Gibbs half-volley. Looking somewhat bewildered at having to play on a veritable ploughed field of a pitch and in freezing, dank conditions a blood & thunder affair saw the Tulips achieve parity late in the second-half when Dan Cotton scored a superb equaliser to ensure honours finished even at 1-1…
