SUFC v Desborough Town

On Tuesday 5th March 2013 Spalding United hosted a resilient Desborough Town at the Sir Halley Stewart Field in another UCL Premier Division fixture. When these two teams met at the Waterworks Field in Northamptonshire in early November, the Tulips emerged quickest out of the traps and went in at half-time sitting on a two-goal cushion. However the second period saw concerted pressure by the hosts, but though they dominated and clawed a goal back, they were unable to reach parity as time expired. Tuesday’s match pretty much followed the same pattern with Dan Cotton and Jay Smedley giving the Tulips a deserved 2-0 half-time lead only for the away side to enjoy much the better of a second-half which, ultimately, saw them unable to gain anything from the match, aside from a late consolation goal.
