On Easter Monday, April 1st, Spalding United had to play the role of April Fools as they lost a golden opportunity to close the gap on title-leaders Holbeach United at the Sir Halley Stewart Field in a top-of-the-table UCL Premier Division fixture.

Despite going in at the half-time interval at 1-1, there followed s a surprisingly lacklustre showing from the home side in the second period and they never looked like getting back into the game when the Tigers‘ took a deserved early lead in the second-half. The game was put firmly beyond the reach of the Tulips when former player Andy Tidswell scored his second and Holbeach United‘s third goal to round off a perfectly miserable afternoon for the Tulips.
