Huntingdon Town v SUFC

On Saturday 23rd February 2013, the title-chasing/promotion-hunting Tulips somehow conspired to rescue a draw from the jaws of victory when goalkeeper Michael Duggan’s weak punch three minutes from time fell right at the feet of Huntingdon Town skipper, Ricky Dear, who smashed the ball home to ensure the result was the last thing the visitors needed – another 1-1 draw. The game started brightly enough for the away side and they created several fantastic opportunities throughout. Dan Cotton was again on the scoresheet when he pounced on an errant back-pass to prod the ball between the advancing goalkeeper’s legs before running round him to slot the ball into an empty net. What should have signalled an opening of the floodgates never materialised; some stout defending/goalkeeping (culminating in a saved Tony Battersby penalty) saw the home side hang on until that critical slip by the usually-dependable Duggan saw three points quickly reduced to one…
