Quorn v SUFC

On Tuesday 12th March 2013 Spalding United travelled to Leicestershire on a bitterly cold night to face Quorn in a top-of-the-table UCL Premier Division fixture. When these two teams met in early January, the Tulips finally emerged victorious with a 3-2 win after a thrilling encounter which saw the away side claw back a 2-0 deficit and be drawing 2-2 with only minutes to play.

In the reverse fixture on this evening, the Tulips recovered from losing an early goal after 6 minutes, equalising after 30 minutes. Another thrilling end-to-end match then ensued,  which saw the Tulips emerge victorious after a late strike by Gary King six minutes from the end, following a surging run by midfielder Lee Beeson.

Unfortunately, this resident photographer was unable to attend what many have told me was probably the best match of the season and as nobody else had a camera to hand there is unfortunately no photogallery from this match – a great shame but let’s hope I can secure a bumper crop from the visit to Cogenhoe United this coming Saturday 16th March…
