SUFC v Cogenhoe United

On Saturday 16th February 2013, Spalding United got back to winning ways after consecutive defeats at home to Holbeach United and Guernsey FC when they beat Cogenhoe United 3-1 in some style in the Quarter-Final of the UCL Knockout Cup. Striker, Tony Battersby finally broke his duck after 14 games up-front for the Tulips and looked a threat all afternoon in the glorious winter sunshine. Skipper, Lee Canoville, also scored in the first-half and recently-arrived full-back, Jamie Thurlbourne, wrapped up the Tulips’ tally when his second-half free-kick eluded everyone in the penalty-box to creep inside the goalkeeper’s far post…
